ASTER: Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer

Les étoiles sont des boules énormes de gaz chauds et lumineux. Notre soleil est une étoile. Ce n’est qu’une étoile ordinaire, ni la plus grande, ni la plus brillante. Mais le soleil est l’étoile la plus proche de la planète Terre. La Terre fait partie de la famille des planètes, des lunes et des comètes du soleil, que l’on appelle le Système Solaire. Toutes les autres étoiles que nous voyons dans le ciel sont bien plus éloignées de la Terre. Il y a bien longtemps déjà, les hommes ont donné un nom aux étoiles les plus brillantes dans le ciel et ont appris à quel moment et à quel point du ciel il était possible de les voir. Ils ont également donné des noms aux constellations c’est-à-dire aux groupes d’étoiles qui semblent avoir des formes dans le ciel. En règle générale, ces constellations portent le nom de dieux, de héros ou d’animaux.

Prenez dès aujourd'hui la décision d'inscrire à tout jamais votre nom ou celui de quelqu'un d'autre dans le ciel. C'est tout simplement le cadeau le plus somptueux de l'univers.
